SVA Collectives are open, member‑led communities of practice that bring together students and staff from any tertiary institution for a shared purpose

Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF)
Student Consultation Collective

A new community of practice by Student Voice Australasia (SVA) together with the Student Experience Network (SEN).

The SSAF Student Consultation Collective brings together staff and students from across the tertiary sector to explore how students are meaningfully consulted and involved in decisions about SSAF.

Purpose

This collective focuses on strengthening student‑centred practice and sharing practical models that support transparent decision‑making, meaningful partnership, and demonstrable impact.

Why?

Across Australia, institutions are required to consult students about SSAF priorities and demonstrate that funds are used to improve the student experience. The ‘how’ of this consultation varies widely. This collective creates a dedicated space to unpack student consultation approaches, share challenges, and build sector capability.

Who Can Attend?

The Collective is open to all students and staff from any tertiary institution interested in student voice and SSAF consultation. In line with our sector wide commitment to student voice- membership with SVA or SEN is not required.

This collective is designed for:

  • Student engagement and student experience professionals across institutions and student led organisations

  • SSAF managers and service leads

  • Student association representatives and student leaders

  • Researchers and practitioners interested in student voice

Why Attend?

  • Connect with peers and colleagues committed to student voice and partnership

  • Share tools, frameworks and examples of best practice

  • Explore sector‑wide challenges and opportunities to create best practice guidelines
