Student Network

The cross-institutional Student Network is a safe, respectful space for students only an avenue of support and leadership.

The network meets to exchange ideas and knowledge, share case studies and best practice approaches, discuss challenges, and provide insight and support about engaging with institutions. Students from SVA’s member institutions are encouraged to join and engage with these sessions.

  • Empowering International Student Voice
    Hear from inspiring student leaders as they share practical examples of initiatives that successfully amplify international student voices across Higher Education.
    We’ll explore strategies that foster inclusion, leadership, and inter-campus collaboration, and discuss the vital role of building a connected and supportive student voice network. This will be a conversational style presentation.

  • Student Representative Toolkit
    Student Representation is both a rewarding and demanding role. As such, individual representatives constantly gain new strategies, techniques, and knowledge that they bring to their approach. This session brings together three Student Representatives with varying backgrounds, roles, and experiences in hopes of providing real-world advice and suggestions for new and experienced representatives.

    Navigating and understanding your institutional policies
    University policies and legislation play a critical role in shaping institutional governance, maintaining academic standards, and guiding day-to-day operations. However, these frameworks can often be difficult to navigate.
    This student network session aims to provide students with the tools they need to navigate the complex landscape of university policies, ensuring they can advocate and lead with authority and clarity.

  • Strategies for increasing student knowledge about representative processes and voting
    Learning strategies to raise awareness about representation work and best practices to engage students in voting and sharing feedback.
