Judging Process

Each application is assessed on its merit and context—you don’t have to be big or well-resourced to win. We’re looking for authenticity, creativity, and change-making energy.

Judges will evaluate based on the responses on the nomination form and cannot assume any information that is not clearly outlined in the application. Each submission will be assessed by a panel of students and professional staff on SVA’s Operational Committee using the following weighted criteria:

  • Clear evidence of impact or improvement | 30%

  • Authentic student leadership/partnership | 30%

  • Inclusiveness and collaboration | 20%

  • Alignment with student voice / STEPUP principles | 20%

Applicants with the highest combined scores will be shortlisted as finalists, with the highest being awarded as winners at the Student Voice Symposium. SVA will make every effort to manage conflicts of interest during the judging process. Where conflicts arise, judges will be required to declare conflicts and abstain from voting.
